Why give us a legacy?

Legacies form a vital part of funding our life saving research. Lung cancer claims more lives than any other cancer in the U.K. Despite this, less than four percent of all cancer research funding is directed toward lung cancer. This is why your legacy to the only dedicated lung cancer research charity in the world is so important to future generations.

Why do you need a will?

No Will means no choice.

An up-to-date Will ensures that your treasured possessions and other assets are passed on to the people and charities that YOU choose. Without a Will, the choice might end up in the hands of an administrator appointed by the courts. A Will gives you freedom of choice as to who inherits your estate - no matter how big or how small - and can help protect the future of family, friends and charities such Women Against Lung Cancer.

How to make a will

It is usually best to choose a solicitor to write your Will. Writing your own can be dangerous because the world of Will-writing, inheritance and probate is not always straightforward! To help you we have prepared a free Will guide that is full of advice on making or amending a Will.

Keeping your Will up to date

If you do decide to include a gift in your Will for Women Against Lung Cancer, please ask your solicitor to use the recommended form of wording given in one of the following paragraphs:

Residuary gift

I leave to Women Against Lung Cancer, 200 London Road, Liverpool L3 9TA, Charity Registration Number 1046854, the whole of my estate [a proportion of the residue of my estate] after payment of funeral and testamentary expenses and debts for its general purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Chief Executive or other duly authorised officer for the time being of the said Foundation shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executors.

Pecuniary Gift

I leave to Women Against Lung Cancer, 200 London Road, Liverpool L3 9TA, Registered Charity Number 1046854, the sum of £XXX free of Inheritance Tax absolutely for its general purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Chief Executive or other duly authorised officer for the time being of the said Foundation shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executors.

Specific bequest:

I leave to Women Against Lung Cancer, 200 London Road, Liverpool L3 9TA, Charity Registration Number 1046854, [description of item(s)] absolutely for the general purposes of the said charity and I direct that the receipt of the Chief Executive or other duly authorised officer shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executors.
